Finished Features

#1 Turning the page (12/01/2008)

Previously, you could only view one page of things. Now, when you get to the end of the page, I grab the next batch of things automatically. No next/back clicking at all. To test it out, go here and scroll down, repeat.

This does introduce a bug because you can't really see the footer anymore. I'll fix that.

#2 Show us our stuff (12/02/2008)

You can now embed your things right on your website with the new enjoysthin.gs badge. Go, copy the code and put it on your website. Your friends will go crazy when they see it on your website. They'll pull out their hair and everything. I still haven't fixed the bug I introduced with feature #1. Sorry.

#3 Re-tweeting (12/03/2008)

You can auto import your twitter favorites. So, every time you 'favorite' a tweet on twitter, it will be enjoyed here. Pretty slick, no? Just give me your twitter username in your profile. Here's what an imported entry looks like. Also, I still haven't fixed the bug I introduced with feature #1. Soon.

#4 I Like This! (12/04/2008)

Yesterday's feature was auto-importing your twitter favorites. Today's is the same thing, except with your vimeo likes. Rather than use the bookmarklet on Vimeo.com, now you can just "like" it there. If you do that, I'll import that and even use the big thumbnail. Just give me your vimeo username in your profile. (I still haven't fixed the bug introduced in #1... sorry)

#5 Aren't we friends on facebook? (12/05/2008)

Today's feature is easily the hackiest one I've done yet. But it's facebook integration. Just install the facebook app and I'll update your wall a few times a day with some of your enjoyed things. You can shut it off at any time.

#6 I can see your pictures (12/07/2008)

You could probably see this one coming. You can now auto import your flickr photos. Edit your profile and setup your flickr information. Due to some limitations of their API, you have to enter your email address. As you do that, I'll ask flickr for your user information. Once we find it, you save and I'll start importing your favorite flickr photos (5 at a time). Keep in mind, I don't show your flickr photos, I show the photos you've marked as favorites.

#7 I plan on fowarding animated gifs during the holidays (12/08/2008)

After a fair bit of work, you can now instruct enjoysthin.gs to send you email. This can happen when someone comments on something you enjoy, or when they send you a message or befriend you... or when I want to send hilarious quips of my own. You can turn them all on or off from your profile.

#8 A site like Vimeo for people who hate themselves (12/08/2008)

Now, when you enjoy a video page on youtube, I'll auto import the thumbnail. I probably won't add support for their 'like' system anytime soon. Becuase I don't actually know anyone who uses it... although it's fair game if I start running out of new feature idesa this month.

#9 What is everybody doing tonight? (12/09/2008)

The second feature for tonight (techinically a different day, but whatever) is a lot more pallatable than the previous one. Now, when you're viewing your home page, you can see your friends' recent activity. I'm going to keep playing around with the amount of stuff to show, but other than that, it's pretty slick.

You can now change your avatar from your user profile . More information on the offical blog post... don't make me say it again.

You can view enjoyed Vimeo videos directly from enjoysthin.gs. Watch my friend Jack Zerby for an example.

#12 Play me! (12/12/2008)

When viewing your list of things, you can press play on videos directly from the list page. I still redirect you to the profile page, but it will autoplay.

#13 Look away (12/12/2008)

You can now view youtube videos directly from enjoysthin.gs... Play from profile was a freebie.

#14 Show off (12/14/2008)

You can now post things directly to your tumblr account! For example: if you see an image that you love and want to post it to your tumblr account, you click one button and up it goes. It will also smartly handle links and quotes. Edit your profile to add your tumblr account information, once you do that, you'll see a post to tumblr link on the permalink page of each amazing thing.

#15 Bag it, tag it, sell it to the butcher in the store (12/15/2008)

It wouldn't be a web 2.0 application with tagging, so now you each thing can now be tagged! You can add, edit and delete tags to your heart's content.

You and I aren't the only ones adding tags to enjoysthings. Now the entire interent is helping out. If not the entire internet, at least the users of del.icio.us are lending a hand. You see, now I auto import tags from similar bookmarks on delicious. Fancy, eh?

Very similar to yesterday's feature. I now auto import vimeo tags.

#18 Look at my tags! (12/18/2008)

You can now easily display things based on tags. Let's say you want to see everything tagged with photography. No problem. Perhaps you want to get some inspiration or see something funny. Go nuts.

#19 Let's watch Lazy Sunday (12/18/2008)

Hulu videos now show up as embedded videos on the site. It's much better than the tiny thumbnails I was using before.

#20 Did you hear they got a show on MTV? (12/19/2008)

Yep! I added the ability to view embedded video from CollegeHumor.com right on the site. That is all.

#21 Explore (12/21/2008)

A while ago, I added a way to view the site through images. Today I'm expanding on that by introducing a whole new explore section. Today's addition to that section is explore via tags. Keep refreshing for new stuff.

#22 I love that song (12/21/2008)

I love music, you probably do too. So I made it easier to show off that fact from enjoysthin.gs. You can set up enjoysthin.gs to grab your loved tracks from last.fm. Head over to your profile to set it up.

#23 Now let's let flickr do the work (12/21/2008)

Auto importing of flickr tags is now set up. So if you enjoy something on flickr, I'll grab the tags for you automatically. This will work if the thing comes in via the auto importing of flickr photos (set that up on your user profile) or if you just enjoy an image on their site. Less work = more play.

#24 Keep me posted (12/22/2008)

If you're on the site for a while, there's a chance you'll receive a message from one of your friends. If you do, I'll let you know by alerting you to that fact from the nifty new menu bar on the top of every screen. It looks something like this.

#25 What's new? (12/22/2008)

This is a bit like feature #24. While you're looking at your homepage, I'll let you know if there is anythign new. I'll also update the titlebar. So if you want to leave the site open and use a different tab, you can glance to see if there is anything new without visiting the site.

#26 Statistically, how much do I enjoy? (12/23/2008)

Correct! Assuming you guessed that the next feature was stats, you are correct. You can now vew the most basic of stats from the user profile page. Simple click "view stats" under the avatar on a user's profile page and you'll see their stats. Right now you can only see # of things enjoyed vs their friends but I'll certainly be adding more in the near future.

#27 I forgot what I was going to say (12/23/2008)

This was the first feature request I got when I started my 31 features in 31 days project. I'm proud to say, it's finally finished. You can now recover your password if you forget it. Well, you don't get your password back, but you do get a new one.

#28 Increase your personal SEO (12/24/2008)

You can now setup a lot more stuff on your profile. You can also show off more on your profile. Just fill in the about me or website or whatever you want on your profile and I'll show it off to the world. To see it, go to a user profile and click "more info."

#29 Check your spam folder (12/25/2008)

It's officially Christmas Day and I'm launching feature 29! You can now share things via email. If you see something that needs to be sent to a friend of yours, simple click "share via email," enter their email address and press enter. That thing will wind up in their inbox in seconds.

#30 Forgiveness for your miss clicks (12/26/2008)

Occasionally we all click the bookmarklet while trying to click on something else. Until now it's been a pain to undo it, you'd have to click through and delete it and then get back to whatever you were going to do. Not anymore! Now you can just click "Undo." So click away, put the bookmarklet in a prominent position, you can always undo it later. (You don't need to reinstall the bookmarklet, it's smart like that).

#31 I'd like to enjoy this... um... by myself (12/26/2008)

Have you ever really enjoyed something, but not wanted anyone else to know about it? Well now you can! You can click "Make private" on anything that you enjoy. You can also set it up in your profile so that everything you enjoy (via the bookmarklet) is private. But that's no fun! Either way, you can always change it right from the bookmarklet.
